As the year winds down, the vernacular media is full of articles that purport to bestow a 'Taisho' or 'Grand Prix' on various words, people and endeavors that made the news in 2007.

Appearing in the special double New Year's edition of Shukan Post (1/4-11), entertainer-cum-film director 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano gives an 'age 18 and over' interview that provides an unexpurgated peek of the year's most creative titles for adult videos and names of commercial sex shops, ostensibly to acknowledge their contribution to lowering the language.

Take the bestselling exercise video 'Billy's Boot Camp,' which sold over 1.5 million DVDs last summer. In short order, it promptly provided grist for the mill for a pair of porn parodies, including 'Zenra (buck naked) Boot Camp' and 'The Madonna Boot Camp,' the latter which was about a 'sex exercise regimen' for mature ladies 'to beautify themselves in seven days, through excretion of perspiration and vaginal fluids.'"
