Ultraman Zero

Is it me or does this feel like bits of Ultra 7 and Message From Space got mixed in?

Tip of the hat to Mike Dent!

Yep. Looks like Message from Space, Ultraman-style, and not too bad a rendition at that.

P.S. Am I mistaken in thinking that there was supposed to be a "final" Ultraman movie?

I don't think so. There's always a new Ultraman and a new Ultraman movie at least once a year. Usually in the summer. I think you can watch last year's Ultraman movie on YouTube.

Look for Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie on YouTube.

I grew up watching the 1966 Ultraman every day, and I now watch it every day with my son. The original Ultra will always be "the Man" to me. Next to Superman he is my all-time favorite superhero.

This movie looks kind of fun, but it's probably too intense for Hans. He LOVES Ultraman, though. I mean, it's all he ever talks about. It is so satisfying to watch those old episodes again through his eyes. Hayata, Ito, Arashi, Cap Mura, Hoshino, and Fuji... it's like going back in time.

Bruce,

I'm with ya. I caught Ultraman via a poorly-received UHF station in the early-to-mid 1980s and it knocked my socks off -- where was this when I was a kid in the 1970s?

I'm watching the boxed set right now and falling in love all over again -- great blend of goofy comedic elements, mystery and high-weirdness, and super science. Best of all, even my gal (who looks cross-ways at most Japanese pop culture relics) enjoys it!
