Nice poster. Looks like a definite rental, at the very least.
I didn't know they had released this over here already. I'll have to give it a try if anything to see how Funimation handles a non-anime title. With Navarre's experience it should be good.
Has anyone seen any of the Animego live action titles?
I rented a couple of the Shinobi no Mono DVDs that Animego put out a few months back. Animego does a really good job with these. Good subtitles, program notes in the extras, the usual Animego treatment. I'm tempted to buy the boxset:

That's what I was expecting. I'll have to just pull the trigger and order a couple of movies. I was happy when they announced they picked up Black Rain. I can get rid of my VHS copy now.

Also looking at the Ballad of Narayama and The Loyal 47 Ronin. I want to watch an older 47 Ronin before the American remake with Cardboard Reeves comes out.
I knew Animego had recreated the Shogun Assassin movies but THIS?

Now I gotta get the boxset for that and add Black Rain, too.

We saw the Mizoguchi version, am I right?
AnimEigo has been doing these films justice for a long time!
@DVC - I don't think I've seen any of the movies or tv series for 47 Ronin. If your talking about what we saw in film class, the Mizoguchi movie was Ugetsu Monogatari, IIRC, but that was a long time ago.
I recall seeing Ugetsu quite vividly, but I'm pretty sure that we (or at least I) saw his version of Chushingura at some point around that time -- it stood out in my mind at any rate.
I wonder if Intercontinental Video has any of these? The neighborhood is dodgy, but Discount Video is no more (Bob Selvig's been gone from the scene for years...) and I doubt very much that Redbox or Nutflix would carry some of these!
