I watched the first 3 episodes. And liked it. It's not a deep serious show and it's not a wacky high school harem comedy. It's simply a show of ghost stories.
Each episode is hosted by a ghost who runs the Thriller Restaurant. So, I already like it for having the equivalent of a Ghoulardi Horror Show Host. The episodes are broken into 3 tales. An appetizer, main course and a dessert. The ghost stories are quick, concise and actually pretty fun. All told with the same cast in a "cursed" town. It's a kids show, so there's no gore to be seen, but they still get away with killing a few kids off camera in twisted Tales From The Crypt style bits.
If you're looking for something that's a change of pace from your typical anime I'd recommend Kaidan Restaurant. It's just good clean spooky fun.

I've always felt the American market/fandom was missing out on some of these types of shows. Their loss. I'll have to check this one out. Sounds good.
I'm kinda surprised that it's been fansubbed. The fansub community pretty much ignored the new GeGeGe No Kitaro series that came out recently. I only found the first episode fansubbed and then abandoned. What the fuck is up with this elitist attitude in fansubbers? They hated on the anime version of Disney's STITCH! and the new Golgo 13 series, too. If it's a kids show or it's a remake of an old show it's avoided like the plague for some reason. But then maybe sometimes it's not. The hell?
My take on this, and I know this is an overgeneralization, but the American market is all about harem shows. Even if that isn't the case, the market/fandom has that stigma left on it.
The companies just flat out say those shows, the kiddie shows, etc. won't sell, so they don't make it over. The fansubbers, surprisingly, say something fairly similar. It seems there are some subbers who want to do these titles, but just can't get the help to do it. Not enough interest from the fansub community. Then, even if they do a series like GeGeGe no Kitaro, the market wasn't there for all the time they put into doing it.
Then again, a quick look shows that someone is doing Gokinjo Monogatari, Candy Candy, Ashita no Joe, Touch, Macross 7, Vifam . . . Maybe there's not enough resources/fanpower and too much material?
I guess if I want to watch GeGeGe no Kitaro, I'll have to be satisfied with the raws. For as much that has changed in fandom, a lot hasn't in 20+ years.

The kiddie media snobbery is something I also encounter in comics and manga fandom. And it seems to be part of the "COMICS AREN'T JUST FOR KIDS ANYMORE," bullshit. They have to justify liking comics and cartoons because there's like some sort of shame associated with them. "Why are you reading comics?" or "Why are you watching cartoons?" and implying that there's something wrong with you for doing it. So in response we get comics with "ADULT THEMES" and cartoons with creepy sexual undertones.
And harem shows.
But you're right. I'm still pretty happy to be able to find the raw episodes for these shows. And it's nice to see more and more of the old classics being dragged out and fansubbed. It suggests that there's a fraction of fandom that has some redeeming qualities, and it seems to be gaining ground as more and more mainstream fans are exposed to the classics.
There may be a maturing side effect from Toei streaming it's back catalog on Cruchyshit and Funi and Hulu. I never saw that coming.
