I always love how "pimp" those coming-of-age costumes are. It's the fur trimmed collars, bright colours and the gold purses that do it I guess.

VERY pimp! I'm just wondering how long it will take (unless I've missed it?) before these furisode make it to Western con culture...

I always love these Japanese photo-ops because Japanese photofolks work in bunches. Take a look behind the group of gals. What do you see?

Are these guys taking pictures of their backs? Or taking pictures of their PHOTO BUDDIES taking pics of their fronts? Is the photo session just a reason to get together and take pics of one another?

Cripes, I never looked at it that way. That's really creepy.

Maybe the subject just turn around and pose to the other side, as well. Easier for them to move than to file photographers by.

Oh, and I have to say....Danny Choo has himself a pretty good deal, there in Japan.

What? Do people buy Danny Choo free drinks at the bar?

Does Danny Choo have the sole subsidiary rights in Akiba for that particular Stormtrooper suit?

Surely, by now he has been cloned! :P

Well, I guess I can't be certain it's him, but I can't really imagine anyone else in Tokyo wanting to run around in a damn Stormtrooper's outfit in a non-con environment, posing for pictures.

I don't doubt it's Danny Choo in the Stormtrooper getup. He's pretty much staked out that gig.

Just like Matt Alt and Yokai.

Danny has a book out now, too, called "Otacool". It's ok....just lots of people's collection pics. Unfortunately, none of the collections are all that cool. Matt's books have proven to be a whole lot more interesting and informative, to me at least.

I saw the link to Otakool on Boing Boing the other day. I haven't bought or borrowed any of Matt's books but I have most of Patrick's books. All but one or two last time I looked at my shelf.

I guess we should all sit down and write a book.
