Of "Rape" Games and Japan-bashing

"Lah claims that many of today’s younger Japanese cannot express their feelings in reality and can only do so in the virtual world. According to her, this “trend” is showing no sign of slowing down."

"Many of" and "shows no signs." Fairly good terms to use if you don't have the actual study figures to back them up. But it's a TV piece, so...

That said, I recall the day I first saw a sample of Japanese porno. Back in the early '80s. Candle wax. Rope bondage. Razor blades. Yeah, they had interviews with the women in front of the scenes, I expect as a way of showing they weren't coerced into it, but I don't think those cries of pain and grimaces were the results of good acting...

I'm unfamilar with the webpage you linked to, but some of the comments there make me want to cut my own balls off...

I personally find the idea of a 'rape simulation' game to be nauseating, and was surprised CNN would air any of the gameplay at all -- I kinda wonder what their angle is?

@ RWG

Although Japan Probe has its resident trolls and freaks, I've read some informed and even intelligent commentary there, which is why I keep going back for a read : )

And of course, I agree with your take on Japanese "adult video"; Not long I 'gifted' a box of the stuff that I had inherited to a young punk (literally) who planned to assemble the footage for use as a backdrop for his band's performance (to each their own, right?)

And now, I'm gonna go have myself a shower -- I feel all dirty...
