Sean at Colony Drop gives this reliable old tome a good thrashing, and much hand-wringing ensues, though not nearly as much as followed his dissing of Akiba.
Back in the mid-80's when I picked these up, I thought they were the coolest. It was one of the bits and pieces that cinched the deal for me getting involved in anime/manga. Considering where anime and manga were, both the business and fandom in the U.S. at the time compared to now, those books really stood out.
